1967 Dodge a100 Van, short body, panel for sale

This is the one. My project for sale, a Dodge a100 short body panel van in great condition for being 55 years old. Three on the tree with a slant six engine. This is the type of van that the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo was patterned after. This particular van started its life as a service vehicle for the Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company in Oregon, hence the dark green olive drab paint original color. Then it was sold to a local fire department, where it was hastily painted red. Bought in Oregon and driven to South Carolina where it spent decades in a garage and barn. Now it can be yours!

This van is in great restorable shape, with limited rust and body damage. It is all original and unmolested or modified, currently not running, but very complete. The floorboards are in great shape except for the floor seam that runs across the front of the driver’s and passenger’s seat as pictured. The stepwells at the bottom of the front doors are solid as is the floor in the cargo area in the back. There are no dents or creases on the front or rear of the van. All doors and windows operate easily, glass is all solid although the windshield halves have frosting around the outsides, door handles in solid shape, and the original padded dash on the passenger side is in great condition with no cracks.

There is a roof vent installed by the telephone company that is not original from Chrysler. Body sheet metal issues the passenger side rear door and side behind it have minor dimples/creases in them, and there is a small rust through spot above where the muffler pipe extended from under the van just in front of the left rear tire as pictured. Seats are in it but not attached and need recovering. I have the original bumpers which need some straightening, the under-engine pan, the battery box cover, the floor cover plate for the master cylinder, and the original set of 5 wheels.

Also included in this package deal is a set of 5 slotted chrome original Chrysler wheels from a ‘72 or ‘73 New Yorker, with beauty rims and center caps, that would look great on this van. Also included is a spare slant six with an attached automatic transmission that was pulled from a ‘67 Valiant that was in great condition until it was mainlined by a 200-year-old oak tree during a storm. The car was immaculate and had only 28,000 original miles on it when it was ruined, and I got the engine from it. Also included are the original owner’s manuals, an original service manual, and a rare accident pamphlet from Pacific Northwest Bell for the driver to fill out in the event of an accident. This was still in the glove box, which is still complete and functional. I have a clear title to the van.

These are getting hard to find in this condition. This is a very solid vehicle. It would be a great start for a restoration project, either to original condition, or to customize, or to swap in a 318 for a little more power and rumble. There are probably few Bell Telephone Company service vans from this era left, it could be restored as a movie prop. Your choice, but it needs a good home and to be brought back to its former glory.
